10 Proven Steps to Build a B2B Website That Attracts Inquiries
- B2B Website_ 10 Steps to Attract Inquiries 15:09
If you are a manufacturer in Taiwan you may have an old website that is not working well for your business any more and not delivering inquiries. Many companies look to “redesign” their website, but the design is not the problem, usually the whole structure and content of the website needs to be rethought and following this 10 step process with your marketing company will make sure that you get the best result for your business.
Table of Contents
Two Things to Remember Before You Start a New Website Project
1. Do not choose a cheap template website from a large marketing company that uses the same content as your old website
- You will not get new inquiries
- You will waste your time and money
- Your website will look the same as your competitors
2. Make sure your website design or marketing company does not work with your competitors
- They may share your company information with your competitors
- They will make the company paying the most rank the highest and get the most inquiries
- Your website will look very similar to your competitors
Find an experienced company with marketing experts and content writers (not just sales people) who will take the time to talk to you about your company, understand your needs and build the right solution to help you make money.
In this guide I tell you the 10 steps we take to make sure that you get the best possible website for your business. There are no shortcuts. If you miss out one or more of these steps you will waste your money and time and not receive the inquiries you need.
1. Website Planning
There are three key parts to website planning and skipping these or coming up with an “Instant quote” is a sign of a company that is only focused on monthly sales and not on your success.
Competitor Research
When I ask most companies for a list of their competitors, the companies that they provide are often not the ones that appear in online search and for a website, those are your real competitors so you need to know who they are and monitor that constantly too.. Once we have found your real competitors in your target market we then analyze their websites and keywords to see what we can learn from them that will inform us how we need to structure and write the content for your website.
Keyword Research
Once we have competitors we can now get on with the keyword research for your niche to find out how people are searching for your products and services so that we can use this information in your website content planning and also in any ads we do later on. Your product name is not enough as a keyword as it may be very competitive, so finding other longer keywords that customers really use is vital for your success. Once we have the keyword lists we can then go on to build the sitemap with all of the right pages you need to start to be selected by Google for those important keywords.
Website Sitemap
Many of the customers I visit have never seen a clear sitemap before, but this is another vital step to making sier that your visitors can easily find the information and products they need with the right navigation and page structure that makes sense to both them and Google.
The most common issue that I see on sitemaps is when a company puts a list of product codes in a menu. These are useless to new costumes as they have no idea what they mean and will not help them find the products they are looking for, so making sure that your navigation is clear and easy to use for someone who does not know your product line is vital to your success in attracting inquiries.
Website & Domain Ownership
Make sure that you 100% own the website you are paying for. Do not accept “licensing”of a template or the use of fully customized coding which means only one company can ever fix or upgrade your website for you. This should be written in the contract. Also make sure to keep the login information for your website domain. Do not leave this with the web design company.
2. Content Creation
Google looks at the content of your website rather than your design, so having the right content on the right pages with the right keywords is what will help your website be found by potential customers. Correctly planning your website content is critical to your success.
Written Content
Your website needs original, well written content that properly addresses your customers’ questions. This isn’t about having “someone who is a native speaker” write your content (which many marketing companies do) it requires genuine writing expertise and planning. Make sure that you have the opportunity to meet with your writer to discuss the content and the messages that are important across to your customers.
Photography & Video
In addition to the words, you also need great images and video clips to make your website visually appealing to your visitors. There is no need to invest in a company image video as these are rarely watched by customers and often are more focused on special effects than actually showing the things that the customers need to see. Clear images of your production, quality, and general environment are what customers need to see. A good guideline is to choose the things that you would show them if they visited your business in person.
3. Website Design & Page Building
Using software tools like Figma allows web designers to create complete visual layouts of all pages before development begins. This gives you a preview of your future website, including navigation, content and imagery. Your web design company can share links to the Figma design with you so that you can see all of the pages as they are being built and keep track of progress in the project.
Usually the web design company will build a few representative pages first as design samples so that they can confirm the design with you before going ahead and designing the other pages.
After this the web design company can add all of the real content and images to the Figma design and you can preview it again before they start building the real website on a development server. Once the website is complete on the development server, \you can test navigation, check how information is presented, and make sure your products and services are presented effectively before the site goes public.
This two-stage process significantly reduces the risk of costly modifications after launch. You’ll have multiple opportunities to provide feedback and request adjustments during development, ensuring the final website accurately represents your manufacturing capabilities to international audiences.
4. SEO (Search Engine Optimization) Set Up
Proper SEO setup begins with optimizing all website content based on thorough keyword and competitor research. This means strategically incorporating relevant terms that international customers use when searching for Taiwanese manufacturing services and products in your specific sector.
The technical optimization of your site is equally important. This includes creating proper page titles, meta descriptions, header structures, image alt-text, and URL structures that clearly signal to Google what each page is about. These technical elements significantly impact how effectively search engines can index and rank your content, they are like sign posts to the search engines that clearly tell them what is on each page and how the pages are linked. If this is missing, it is unlikely that search engines will be able to show your site to customers.
5. Website Hosting & Go Live
Your website should be hosted on servers from established providers like Google Cloud Platform, Microsoft Azure, or Amazon Web Services. These major hosting providers offer superior reliability, security, and performance that directly impacts how quickly your pages load for international visitors.
Once your site is transferred to the live server, your hosting company should assist with proper indexing setup. This critical step involves submitting your site to Google and configuring settings that allow search engines to discover and index all your pages correctly.
The hosting environment should include proper security measures like SSL certification (https), regular backup systems, and monitoring services. These ensure your website remains accessible and secure for potential international clients at all times.
6. Data Set Up
There are three key components to data setup that should be completed as soon as your site goes live, so make sure that your marketing company does this for you:
Google Analytics
Make sure that Google Analytics is set up for your site as this will give you the information about the pages and the traffic that your website is receiving. It will also give you location information and other demographic data as well as allowing you to track the effects of any advertising campaigns targeting pages on your website.
Google Search Console
This is the tool that tracks how your site is being indexed by Google so that you can make sure that all of your important pages are visible for customers. It also provides you with valuable information on the specific search terms that people are using to find your website and your position in the search results.
Social Media
Linking with your social media platforms such as Facebook, Linkedin and Google Business is also very important for your website’s visibility as this is a sign to Google that a business is trustworthy and engaged with its customers.
7. AI Chatbot For Improved Engagement
Adding an AI chatbot trained specifically on your company information creates a 24/7 support system for international inquiries. The chatbot can immediately answer common questions about your manufacturing capabilities, product specifications, quality standards, and delivery processes without time zone limitations.
The chatbot captures contact information from potential clients, creating a streamlined lead generation system. When properly configured, it qualifies prospects by collecting key information about their requirements before they send an inquiry to connect with your sales team.
This technology is particularly valuable for Taiwanese manufacturers targeting international markets, as it bridges communication gaps and provides immediate responses that might otherwise be delayed due to time zone differences or language barriers.
8. Google Ads Set Up
Google Ads campaigns provide immediate visibility for new manufacturing websites while organic search rankings develop. These targeted advertisements appear directly in search results when potential clients search for terms relevant to your manufacturing capabilities.
Initial ad campaigns should focus on your core products and services with the highest profit margins or greatest competitive advantage. This targeted approach ensures your advertising budget generates meaningful traffic from the most valuable potential customers.
Performance data from these early campaigns provides valuable insights into which terms, products, and messaging resonates most strongly with international audiences. This information helps refine both your advertising strategy and broader marketing approach over time.
9. Write Regular Blog Articles
Regular, high-quality blog articles have become essential for manufacturing businesses in 2025. These articles demonstrate your technical expertise, manufacturing capabilities, and industry knowledge while improving your search visibility for relevant terms.
Effective manufacturing blogs address specific challenges faced by potential clients, explain innovations in production processes, or highlight quality standards. Topics should be selected based on search trends and customer questions relevant to your manufacturing niche.
Consistency is critical – publishing well-researched, informative content on a regular schedule signals to both search engines and potential clients that your company is active and authoritative in your manufacturing sector. This ongoing commitment to quality content directly impacts your international visibility.
Remember to re-purpose content too! If you have a great blog post, share it on your other social media channels, post it to Google Business and even use it as the basis of some social media posts to increase traffic to your website. Always remember to include a link to the original article anywhere you post it so that the traffic goes back to your website.
10. Measure and Adjust
Demand detailed monthly reports directly from Google Analytics and Google Search Console that include actual screenshots from these platforms. These reports should clearly show traffic sources, geographical distribution of visitors, most-viewed pages, and how visitors interact with your site.
Digital marketing requires continuous refinement based on performance data. Regular analysis should identify which content attracts international visitors, which pages convert effectively, and where improvements are needed. This cycle of measurement and adjustment ensures your digital marketing strategy remains effective as markets, technologies, and customer preferences evolve.
